Over the past 14 years, the Rural India Supporting Trust (RIST) has been providing guidance and grant opportunities to hundreds of organizations in India, in order to assist in improving the quality of life for the citizens there. Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting India especially hard. Cases of infection are rising exponentially almost every day. As of April, 30th India has the second highest case count in the world with more than 18 million cases since the beginning of the pandemic. The health care system is under extreme duress. People are dying as they wait to be admitted into hospitals, as there is no capacity to take in more patients. In some cases, people are sharing beds and oxygen, which is a sure way to assist the virus to spread even further. Medical equipment and supplies are desperately needed. Crematoria are working overtime. It is a humanitarian crisis of a colossal magnitude.
RIST has been working in partnership with a variety of organizations who are well positioned to provide assistance. This second wave of the virus had necessitated a continued effort in battling the pandemic and The Hans Foundation, RIST's closest partner, has been assisting on the frontlines by focusing on getting some of the most needed supplies to those who need it.
The entire world has felt the impact of this pandemic, and RIST is hoping that we can once again band together to assist India to get through this second wave of infection as quickly as possible. If you would like to contribute, please consider visiting one of our partners to learn more about their COVID response. Thank you for keeping India close to your heart during this difficult time.
